Lawrence High School Students Participate in the DECA State Career Conference

LAWRENCE, NEW YORK (MARCH 2023)— Students in the DECA Club at Lawrence High School recently attended the DECA State Career Conference in Rochester, New York, and won various accolades representing their school.  Ryan Dorestal finished in the top 10 in both his presentation and exam portion which placed him 6th overall in the category of Professional Selling. Tyler Bowers received a perfect score on his presentation which placed him 7th overall in the category of Hospitality and Tourism Professional Selling. Emma Urgen finished in the top 10 in her presentation and first place overall in the exam portion, placing her 10th overall in the category of Hospitality and Tourism Professional Selling.

“I am incredibly proud of our students achieving great things outside of the classroom,” said Dr. Jennifer Lagnado-Papp, Principal of Lawrence High School. “Our DECA students are incredibly motivated and have consistently done well at these competitions.  This year’s group were champions and demonstrated the level of professionalism and dedication that represent the best of our student body. Congratulations to all our DECA students!”

DECA is an organization that focuses on preparing students for careers in the marketing, finance, hospitality, and management fields. Students are taught skills and take part in challenging projects that enhance their learning experience.
