LAWRENCE, NEW YORK (NOVEMBER 2024)—Lawrence High School is thrilled to announce the launch of the Tornado Sports Network (TSN), a dynamic new media initiative aimed at enhancing community involvement and showcasing the talent of our student-athletes. In collaboration with Athletic Director Angela Matinale and with the help of alumni Brandon Rebel, TSN is set to revolutionize the way the community engages with Lawrence High School athletics.
The mission of TSN goes beyond merely following their sports teams; it serves as a vibrant platform for all members of the community—students, parents, and residents—to connect, participate, and celebrate Lawrence High School’s athletic programs. Whether you’re a fan of the game or someone who enjoys the excitement of high school sports, TSN invites everyone to be part of the action.
“TSN is designed to foster a strong sense of community while providing valuable hands-on experience for students interested in media and broadcasting,” said Angela Matinale, Director of Health, Physical Educational and Athletics. “We want to encourage students to explore their passions and develop skills that will serve them in the professional world.”
Students involved with TSN will have the opportunity to engage in various aspects of sports media, including:
Camera Operation: Learn the technical skills needed to capture the excitement of live games.
Commercial Creation: Develop advertising content that promotes our teams and events.
Animation and Graphic Design: Craft engaging visuals that enhance our broadcasts.
Play-by-Play Announcing: Gain experience in live commentary, bringing the game to life for viewers.
Interviews: Connect with coaches and players, sharing their stories and insights with the community.
"Brandon has been instrumental in bringing their vision for the Tornado Sports Network to life. His expertise in technology and broadcasting is truly impressive, and it's exciting to see how he highlights the hard work and dedication of our athletes,” said Dr. Ann Pedersen, Superintendent of Schools.
In essence, TSN aims to be Lawrence’s own ESPN or FOX Sports, providing thrilling game coverage and a rich learning environment for aspiring media professionals. As they prepare for the inaugural broadcasts, TSN invites the Lawrence community to join them in this exciting venture. Follow them on social media and stay tuned for updates about upcoming games, student spotlights, and ways to get involved.
