LAWRENCE, NEW YORK (NOVEMBER 2024)—Lawrence High School students showcased their exceptional musical talents during the annual Veterans Day ceremony at Andrew Parise Park in Cedarhurst. Performing before a gathering of veterans, families, and community members, vocalists Jayla Nixon, Jennifer Guardado, and Corey Shakur delivered stirring renditions of the National Anthem and God Bless the USA, with accompaniment by their music teacher, Ms. Shelly Goldman, on piano.
The students’ heartfelt performances added to the emotional depth of the ceremony, honoring the brave men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces. Their powerful voices resonated across the park, creating a moment of reflection and respect for the sacrifices made by veterans throughout the years.
The ceremony, held annually at Andrew Parise Park in Cedarhurst, included remarks from local leaders and veterans and a ceremonial flag-raising. The students’ performance helped set the tone for the day’s reflections on service and sacrifice. The event was a testament to the importance of community involvement and young people's role in honoring veterans and fostering a sense of unity.
