On Tuesday, August 10th from 9-11am at 195 Broadway we hosted our Midsummer Reading Check-In Event for K-12 learners! Students were be able to come pick out FREE books at our Book Fair! Hundreds of books were donated by the Book Fairies organization. Having books in the home is proven to positively benefit children in a myriad of ways. A two-decade long study found that the mere presence of a home library increases children's academic success, vocabulary development, and attention. Being surrounded by lots and lots of books where they live helps children build vocabulary, increase awareness and comprehension, and expand horizons.
Our 195 Broadway location was filled with smiling families and learners meeting their new Principal, showing their Summer Reading Journals and picking out their favorite new reads! All of our learners received a free Lawrence Reader T-shirt or a polo!
We hope all of our students to continue reading throughout the summer and unplug from the electronics. Have a wonderful rest of your summer and we look forward to seeing everyone in September!
