Lawrence Union Free School District Holds Staff Development Days for the 2022-2023 School Year

LAWRENCE, NEW YORK (AUGUST 2022)—Lawrence Union Free School District recently held Staff Development Days for the 2022-2023 school year at each of the District’s buildings over the course of two days.

“We take great pride in the level and quality of education our educators provide to students in the Lawrence School District,” said Dr. Ann Pedersen, Superintendent of Schools. “Through Staff Development Days, we can give our staff and teachers the information and skills enhancement training that provides them with the support they need to become even better educators. It was exciting to see new and familiar faces, and we are thrilled to start the new school year!”

On the first day, new and returning staff and teachers dedicated their time going over building safety protocols and Suite 360, which is an online platform the District use with their students for Social-Emotional Learning (SEL). They also participated in 4 Disciplines of Execution for their professional development with a Franklin Covey consultant for the remainder of the day. The 4 Disciplines of Execution are 1.) The discipline of Focus, 2.) The discipline of Leverage, 3.) The discipline of Engagement and 4.) The discipline of Accountability. All of the teachers at Lawrence Union Free School District received a copy of a book as participating in ongoing training this year. On the second day, the staff participated in virtual and in-person staff development classes going over Global Compliance videos, learning environments, and the District’s Individualized Education Program (IEP). The Global Compliance Network (GCN) is a website the District uses to complete training that is required based on the New York State regulations.
