LAWRENCE, NEW YORK (FEBRUARY 2023)—The New York State Education Department (NYSED) recently released its 2022 New York State Education at a Glance report, which, among various data points, outlines the graduation rates for all school districts in New York State.  The Lawrence School District reported a high school graduation rate of 90 percent. This rate outpaces the New York State average, which according to NYSED, is approximately 87 percent.

Graduation rates are a key metric used to gauge the health and effectiveness of school districts. Additionally, evidence has suggested that a school district’s successful graduation rate leads to lower unemployment and higher potential salaries in the community, spurring economic growth and innovation in the district’s community and the surrounding region.

“As we analyze the subgroups, we see many groups hitting 95% and 97%. The graduation rate does show that our students, even with the challenges posed by the pandemic and remote learning were dedicated to their studies and were able to come through these unprecedented times successfully,” said Dr. Ann Pedersen, Superintendent of Lawrence Schools. “We are immensely proud of every one of our graduates, and we are ready to assist those needing additional time and help to ensure that every student is given every opportunity to succeed and move on successfully to the next stage of their lives.”
