Lawrence Elementary Students Reads To Each Other
In honor of Read Across America Week, Lawrence Elementary School Students Read a Book
LAWRENCE, NEW YORK (MARCH, 2022)—Lawrence Elementary School students celebrated Read Across America Week to share their love for reading. Read Across America Week, created by the National Education Association in 1988 to promote the joy and benefits of reading, was celebrated this year during the week of February 28.
In honor of Read Across America Week, Lawrence Elementary's sixth-grade and fourth-grade classes partnered up to read aloud to each other. The collaboration enabled the readers to practice their reading, focus, and vocabulary skills while also having an enjoyable experience with friends. Reading aloud also allows students to practice their pace, pronunciation, and intonation skills while the listeners were able to strengthen their listening skills.
“Read Across America Week is a great opportunity to highlight the many benefits of reading, including the expansion of vocabulary and fostering creativity,” said Rina Beach, Principal of Lawrence Elementary School. “Students had a great time reading to each other and sharing what books they love.”
