LAWRENCE, NEW YORK (SEPTEMBER 2023)—In a display of unity and support, students and staff members of the Lawrence Union Free School District wore green on Tuesday, September 26 to show solidarity with the Farmingdale School District community after the horrific bus crash that resulted in over 40 student injuries and claimed the lives of two beloved Farmingdale educators.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with those two families experiencing unimaginable grief and the entire Farmingdale community during this most trying time,” said Dr. Ann Pedersen, Superintendent of Schools. “We wish for a quick and full recovery for those students who sustained injuries and are relieved to hear that the prognosis for all of them is positive. We stand together as educators, students, and families in joining with districts across Long Island in wearing green. By doing so, we hope to send a powerful message of solidarity, strength, and support for our Farmingdale neighbors.”
