Lawrence Primary School was proud to host our Annual Literacy Night on Wednesday, October 26th. With over 200 families participating, this was a great school event where students and their families were able to engage with one another!
The focus of Literacy Night is to continue to empower our children to set goals and grow as readers. We consider all of our students to be readers and were so pleased to have all of our participants at Literacy Night take home a book from the Book Fairies, a non-profit organization that donates books to schools to increase literacy engagement. Additionally, Carol Anne Weik from the Peninsula Public Library came to help families sign up for a library card and learn about all of the programs/services the library offers.
In addition, all families learned about ways to assist their child in reaching their goals in reading both at home and in school. Families received information on reading strategies to use at home so that their child can select an appropriate story to read and continue to grow their love for reading.
Thank you to our Reading Specialist, Ms. Loweree, and all our staff who participated in this event. Make sure to take a look at some of the resources and photos below from Literacy Night!
