LAWRENCE, NEW YORK (OCTOBER 2022)—Lawrence Primary School’s Unity Day brought together students, faculty, and staff in a united celebration of unity and against bullying. This day is organized nationwide by PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center and is celebrated as a signature event for bullying prevention month. On this day, Lawrence Primary School students, faculty, and staff wore orange to create a visual unity statement.
“Lawrence Primary School hallways were filled with students and staff wearing orange for Unity Day,” said Kristen Mcloughlin, Principal of Lawrence Primary School. “At Lawrence Primary School, we strive to highlight the importance of kindness every day, and Unity Day provided a great opportunity to remind our students to stand up, stand strong, and stand together.”
Students at Lawrence Primary School wore orange and participated in classroom lessons and activities focused on celebrating kindness, acceptance, and inclusion. These topics are a focus within Lawrence Primary Schools’ social-emotional learning curriculum throughout the school year and incorporated in the school motto where students remember to read, write, think and be kind every day.
