
In honor of Black History Month, our Pre-K children are learning about important historical figures and their contributions to society. We focused on Garrett Morgan, Ruby Bridges and Jackie Robinson. Our students have learned about the accomplishments of so many African-Americans. They participated in crafts and shared writing activities after hearing about their legacies.




School will be closed for Winter Break on Monday, February 20th until Friday, February 24th. School will resume on Monday, February 27th where we will celebrate Read Across America/Author Spotlight Spirit Week!

Today we celebrated the 100th day of school! Mrs. DiCeglio transformed our auditorium into 10 different exercise stations for children and teachers to participate in. Children counted to 10 at each station and by the end they had completed 100 exercises to represent our 100 days of school!

Today the children in Room 1 learned about Groundhog's Day and went outside to see if they could see their own shadow!



Today we participated in World Read Aloud Day! Children tuned in to listen to a story read aloud live by the author! The goal of World Read Aloud Day is to bring people together through the shared connection of reading aloud in all of our communities. One of the authors read to us live from Mexico! Today we participated in Peaceful Letter Day. Each class listened to the story, "Alphabet Mystery" by Audrey Wood. Then they set off on a quest around the school to find the missing letters by solving riddles along the way. Ask your child about their Peaceful Letter Day!





This week we celebrated the Lunar New Year. We learned about Chinese cultures and traditions by creating our own dragons, Chinese lanterns and even trying Chinese cuisine with chopsticks! Our dramatic play area was transformed to give children a more realistic play experience!





Today we celebrated our Multicultural Day! Our Pre-K children and families participated in our musical parade followed by sharing information about each families heritage and culture in the classrooms. We learned so many wonderful things about how our culture makes us all unique and special! Thank you families for coming in to teach us more about your heritage and traditions.





There will be no school on Monday, January 16th in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Today we learned about Martin Luther King Jr. and discussed some of our own dreams. "If I cannot do great things, I can do small things in a great way."-Martin Luther King Jr.

It's winter time in Pre-k! Children are enjoying their winter themed center areas and having fun turning their names into sparkly snow!





Lawrence District 15 wishes a safe and healthy holiday season to all our staff, families, and students. May 2023 bring good health to all and academic successes to our students.

Today Pre-K had their Winter Sing Concert. They sang beautifully and after the show they participated in a winter craft activity with their families.





This week we learned all about gingerbread! We listened to various stories and versions of the "Gingerbread Man". We participated in a gingerbread dance, gingerbread themed centers, and did a shared writing activity based off of two stories of the gingerbread man and girl.





Next week we are celebrating Holiday Spirit Week! Also, our winter sing performance will be on Wednesday, December 21st at 10:00 am.
